Approximatly 8 miles round trip, the Mount Chocorua climb, up Champney Falls Trail, is a moderate challenge for all. Once at the top all aches and pains are erased by the splendid view..until one ponders the 4 miles down!
A tree will grow where it wishes in the mountains.
Here you see the roots circling and embracing these large rocks where they have instinctively gone down to the earth below in search of life sustaining water. It's all about survival in this harsh enviornment.
Chocorua Mountain was named after Chief Chocorua whose tribe camped, lived and hunted in the valley below. The mountain is all rock above the treeline and is 3,475 feet above sea level. It is located off the Kancamagus Highway and is part of the Sandwich Mountain Range in beautiful New Hampshire.
